Buy Wholesale J4 Stainless Steel Coil For Your Business

J4 stainless steel is very useful for some companies that need elastic materials, but it is very important for other companies that want to improve the competitiveness of their products in the market.

A common misunderstanding is that J4 ss is just cheap steel used to produce low value-added products such as sinks, but J4 ss has a wider and more economical use case.

The J4 stainless steel produced by Yaoyi is a chromium-manganese austenitic stainless steel with an appropriate amount of nickel, copper and nitrogen added in the annealed state. J4 steel was purchased to replace AISI 301 and AISI 304 stainless steel. Due to the addition of manganese and nitrogen to replace part of the noble metal elements ni and Cr, J4 ss has extremely high economic efficiency. At the same time, because yaoyi uses exclusive technology in the production process, the J4 stainless steel it produces has good strength and high formability.

Does this sound incredible? J4 stainless steel has more surprises.

The J4 stainless steel produced by Yaoyi has higher wear resistance than sus304 and sus430 stainless steel. At the same time, the nickel content of J4SS is only 1%, and the nickel content of 304 is at least 8%, which makes J4 stainless steel far cheaper than 304 stainless steel. But don’t worry about its corrosion resistance and strength, the exclusive technology and the addition of nitrogen make J4 stainless steel have the same efficiency as 304 in the PRE experiment.

J4 Grade: A Complete Guide For Importers

Around the world, the production of stainless steel continues to increase because of its durability, versatility, and affordability. You can find many stainless steel grades out there, but understanding their differences will help you find what you need. Among these grades, a popular one is the J series.

The J series is a type of austenitic steel grade that is widely used around the world. Often, austenitic stainless steel includes chromium and nickel in its composition, while some also have manganese and molybdenum.

Moreover, some austenitic grades are non-magnetic when annealed with a mixture, while some are magnetic. Because of these characteristics, austenitic stainless steel is famous for welding, being corrosion-resistant, and creep-resistant.

In today’s article, we will be discussing one of the renowned variants in the J series, the J4 ss. If you want to know more about the J4 stainless steel grade, continue reading.

What is J4 Stainless Steel?

The J4 ss grade is a variant of stainless steel belonging to the J series. It is a type of austenitic stainless steel that has chromium-manganese. Moreover, it has moderate quantities of copper, nickel, and nitrogen. Generally, many products can be made from the J4 stainless steel grade, including hot rolled plates and cold rolled coils.

Identifying the J4 Stainless Steel Grade

As mentioned earlier, the J4 ss grade belongs to the J series, a type of austenitic stainless steel. Generally, austenitic stainless steel is highly corrosion-resistant, malleable, and low and high temperature-resistant. Austenitic stainless steel is also known to have little to no magnetic response and for its weldability.

With this, various characteristics can help you identify the J4 grade.

Quality Characteristics

Because the J4 ss grade is a type of austenitic stainless steel, it has higher strength properties and high ductility levels. Additionally, it usually has low magnetism in room temperature environments and after cold-working.

The J4 stainless steel is also close to the 18/8 variant of steel because of the corrosion properties. Still, it is not advisable to use it in environments that are salt-aggressive. It’s ideal for heavy-duty operation because of its sturdiness and durability.

What are the Features of J4 SS?

j4 ss Coil

Given its austenitic attributes, the J4 grade has many features that make it stand out. If you want to know some of the technological features of this steel grade, read on.

Welding

As mentioned above, the J4 grade is a highly weldable stainless steel grade because of its austenitic attributes. You can weld the J4 stainless steel by using traditional methods used in welding the 18/8 austenitic grades. Moreover, you can use welded wire of electrodes, which can also fuse the 300 series. You can use these methods because they are sensitive to crystalline corrosion.

Forming and Pressing

Because the J4 ss grade is a variant of austenitic stainless steel, it has properties that make it highly ductile. Moreover, the J4 stainless steel is also sturdy and durable because of its composition. With this, the J4 grade is ideal for structural use, specifically with elongation.

Hot Working

The J4 ss is an austenitic type of stainless steel that can be rolled or forged. Since the J4 has a relatively high nitrogen content, it requires more reduction power than 304. On the other hand, it requires a lesser amount compared to the 316.

Cold Working

Generally, the J4 ss grade is suitable for use in bending and pressing. Since it is highly resistant and pliable, it is ideal for drawing, turning, stretch forming, and spinning. However, the J4 ss should not be used for intense procedures. Lastly, the grade can also be mildly magnetic after cold working.

Heat Treatment

The J4 steel grade is annealed in temperatures ranging from 1050°C to 1100°C. However, it should not exceed the maximum, which is 1100°C. This will prevent the steel from oxidizing excessively and making the grain highly coarse. Additionally, annealing the steel relieves strain and recrystallizes the material, especially if it has been cold-worked.

Aside from this, another process it should undergo is rapid cooling. The J4 steel grade has to cool in temperatures ranging from 500°C to 800°C to avoid carbide precipitation.

Other Features

Besides these, the J4 ss is also known for reducing its work hardening rate because of its copper material. This stainless steel grade can also replace 304 because it becomes a little magnetic after cold working. Because of these attributes, then it can be used in various mechanical strengths depending on cold-working degrees.

In addition, you can also compare the J4 and the 304 and 430 stainless steel grades. In particular, the J4 can be comparable in terms of strength, as it is 50% stronger than 304 and 430. It is also more highly wear-resistant and abrasion-resistant than the two grades.

Moreover, the J4 has less nickel and chromium contents than the 304 but has more nitrogen. Because of this, the J4 works better in mild to medium corrosive environments.

What are the Properties of J4 Steel?

j4 ss Coils

As stated above, the J4 ss grade is ideal for consumer and construction uses because of its chemical composition. Specifically, the J4 stainless steel has traces of the following elements: Carbon (0.10%), Manganese (10%), Sulfur (0.010%), Phosphorus (0.08%), Silicon (0.75%), Nickel (2.0%), Chromium (16.0%), Copper (2.00%) and Nitrogen (0.20%).

Moreover, the nickel and chromium contents of the J4 do not differ from the other variants in the J series. What makes the variants different is the carbon and copper contents of each one. Specifically, the J4 variant has the most copper, followed by the J1, J3, J2, and J5.

On the other hand, the carbon content of the J4 stainless steel is the least among the different variants. Furthermore, the J4 stainless steel also comes last in terms of hardness arrangement.

Mechanical Properties

Aside from its chemical composition, the J4 also has mechanical properties that make it suitable for consumer and structural use. The J4 stainless steel grade has an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 650 minutes, yield strength (YS) of 325 minutes, and an elongation of 40 minutes. Moreover, because it is an austenitic variety of stainless steel, its Hardness Brinell falls at a maximum of 100.

Corrosion Properties

While the J4 grade is highly resistant, it is susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion in environments with chloride. However, you can still use it in freshwater environments where the concentration of chloride is low. Additionally, you can compare the corrosion resistance of the J4 stainless steel to 18/8 grades.
